Back at Perote

Back at Perote, there were weeds to hoe and-or pull, a garden to beat into submission (actually that just means more weeding),and unpacking and repacking. I hadn´t counted on harvesting grapes in June. However, the white grapes were getting ripe so fast that Stanley thought we should harvest at least some of them so that we would have some acidity to mix with the grapes that would certainly be over ripe by the time we returned from Alaska. So . . . that´s what we did. If you want details, check out donamakeswine.blogspot.com. It´s fascinating reading. The grapes were beautiful! What a great and unexpectedly quick start to the 2009 vendimia.
