Dona Rosa's pottery at Coyotepec

I made lots of pictures while we were at the factory and shop but I must have put the camera on a weird setting because this was the only one that came out. Dona Rosa discovered how to make the black pottery shine years ago and her grandson, shown here working on a demonstration piece, obviously inherited her genius. He worked quickly, moving from one stage to another without hesitation, keeping up a constant stream of explanation which was impossible to follow. We were lucky to have a bilingual customer in the shop who knew all about the process and was willing to share his knowledge. We had several pieces shipped. I'll share pictures of them in a later blog publication.
