AUGUST 3

The drive from Tonasket to Rice was short but it offered lots of different views. Enjoy this brief ride in Northeastern Washington.

Just as we started the down slope from Sherman Pass, we were hailed by a woman standing by her pickup. Her brakes were failing and she had no cell service. Neither did I, but I took down her information and promised to call her brother who was also on the road.  In Kettle Falls we stopped at Visitor Information and the receptionist let me use her phone. I made contact with the brother and he assured me he would rescue his sister. It felt good to be of help.

Just a bit farther from Kettle Falls to Rice . . .

And then up the drive

And we were there

A few precious hours with Jim and Rori Draper, wonderful friends from Alaska days.  We got right to the visit. Catching up on mutual friends, family news, recent travels, and reviewing some of our best shared memories.

Rori treated us to a very tasty supper of shrimp enchiladas and salad. Tasty to the max!

So good to meet up with old friends!

Too late to try posting this tonight. I’ll do it tomorrow.

¡Buenas noches!
