AUGUST 4

Today was a three state day. Out of Washington, through Idaho, into Montana. And even with all that it was less than 300 miles.

Rori fixed us a delicious breakfast. Bacon and eggs with plain yogurt and fresh peaches. Some last minute chat and a round of pictures and the dreaded goodbyes.

A cute little bunny hopped out to wish us safe travels and we were off.

When we first started out, we thought the sky was full of smoke, but it wasn’t. The day proved to be a hazy, cloudy, rainy one with just a pinch of sunshine at the very end.

This field of sunflowers was optimistic from the start. They were all looking to the east determined the sun would pop out at any moment.

As we were driving yesterday, Stanley commented, “Washington is certainly not short on scenery.” I agreed with him and now I’d like to add that neither is Idaho or Montana. Beautiful places.

We are ready to be home even though it’s ten times hotter than Hades. We made only two stops today for groceries and gas. We didn’t even make a side trip to the Ninemile Ranger Station, site of Stanley’s long ago fire fighting days. That’s the way it’s going to be for the next two days. Just pictures from the car.

We are all settled down for the night in Missoula MT. I did laundry tonight for the fourth time. We still have clothes in the suitcase we haven’t worn.

Baked ziti from the deli with salad from the trusty little fridge.

¡Buenas noches!
