Desert Garden

Jose Luis is one of my favorite people here at Perote. He was hired as the gardener, but as often happens, he spends more and more time at other tasks. However, back in April, he and I transformed this neglected area into a sweet little desert garden.

We only used existing plant material; the rocks were local as was the wheel we used for decoration.

I learned so much from him. He taught me how to divide aloe and agave, how to transplant yuccas, how to space desert plants and how to water them. Together we learned how much you can do without spending a single peso.
