Grayson is Five

As luck would have it, Sarah had a doctor appointment on May 10th so Stanley and I got to pick up Grayson at school and take him home.  We stopped to buy sugar cookies, a can of frosting and some candles.  His big party was scheduled for Saturday but I thought he could probably use a little practice in blowing out candles. I was right.

Saturday started with his gift from Mom and Dad:

At first he was afraid to even start it up, but by late afternoon he was on the other side of the property driving over rocks, up and down hills, and singing out, "Yippee!"

Before the party, we had a soccer game.

The collage above illustrates the major points of the game from Grayson's point of view: building friendships, actually in the game, private time with the coach, and his biggest fan and cheerleader, his mom!

Time to clean up, set up and the guests started pouring in.  The theme was Phineas and Ferb, Grayson's new favorite in the animated character department.

It was a great day for snapping photos so here they are.  First, there were lots of guests.  Grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, mom's friends, dad's friends, and even some of Grayson's friends.

Lots of pizza.
And birthday cake.

A big Slip and Slide.  Even Daddy got in on the fun.
A pinata.

Filled with LOTS of candy.

A mountain of presents.  And a very tired, very happy little boy.
Happy Birthday, Grayson!
