Lockhart Seed Chase

With some time to kill in San Antonio, we headed northeast to Lockhart Texas to find seed for the Falfurrias wildflower.  Stanley had found a great website that seemed to indicate the seeds could be found and purchased at the Yucca Kingdom Nursery in Lockhart.  The drive up was pleasant enough.  We had a bit of trouble finding the place because of road construction, but eventually we arrived at the location to find this:

Guarded by two of the most friendly dogs I've ever met, the place was obviously abandoned.  Yucca Kingdom had disappeared.  There was a sign with a phone number.  I called and was assured Yucca Kingdom was alive and well in the city of Lockhart just minutes away.  Off we went!  What we found was a fruit market and two of the sweetest people you can imagine.

No Falfurrias wildflower seed.  No seed of any kind.

We drove around town.  What a fabulous old courthouse and library.  The opera house is long gone, but Lockhart must have been quite the place in its time.
We drove on through San Marcos, Sisters Creek, and back to San Antonio.

Just goes to show you can't believe everything you see on the internet.
